Companies Producing Motion Comics

Just trying to complie a list of companies that produce Motion Comics.

Might be great if people have comics, scripts or screenplays they want to make into a motion comic they could get a quote from one of these companies and make something happen?

Would be great to also have a list of smaller business that could make them like motion graphics/designers not just the big wigs.

Motion Comics Composer

Hi,

I just saw this thread, AND this site today. It's great to see motion comics consolidated for the burgeoning fanbase on a site like this. To answer your query, I have been doing original music and sound design for mo'coms (as I call them) for about 8 years. I started as a sound designer, 5.1 mixer and contributing composer for Broken Saints, then went on to work on I Am Legend: awakenings, Hellboy:The Golden Army, Batman Black and White, Jonah Hex, Inception, and a few others that are in the works now.

I mainly work with Sequence Post, who are the real wizards of motion comics, and are always pushing the envelope with new fx techniques, 3D etc to stay a cut above the rest (in my opinion).

I don't like 3D in motion

I don't like 3D in motion comics. It's not groundbreaking by any means - we've had 3D for years. Using it in Mo'coms doesn't impress anyone because it's a much lower level of quality than what we see in movies and video games. Why is it 'ground breaking' when in a motion comic. Absurd. It looks cheap and nasty and has no style when done that way.

If I made a 3D Mona Lisa, printed it out on a canvas would that suddenly be ground breaking cause i used it in art? Hell no! Nonsense to keep pushing 3D as great and dropping all the 'comic' elements. Dead space is a far superior mo'com to anything 3D.

Marvel Knights are a great example of this 'ground breaking' rubbish. They should make mo'coms, not cartoons to ad to their 3D reel to try and get 3D jobs elsewhere.

There is a company I have been watching called MotionWorks Entertainment which produces a different style of Motion comic than what we been seeing. James O'barr (the Crow creator) is the first book set to hit with 'Sundown" but they seem to be bringing in some talented people. Dezago, Blevins, and more check them out.

3D vs Story

Who cares what its in, if its a good story then its great! Their are plenty of crap DC and Marvel comic stories out their doesn't mean comics are crap. 3D is just a story telling tool and Mo'coms are new medium to experiment. 3D Featue film=$100million+, 2D Animated film = $50million+ Feature length Mo'com = $2million(est.)

Motion Comics Studio

Been developing motion comics for two year, now. You can see some samples on my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/sluicee

Taking on a huge project this week that will last for most of 2012, but will start to air in April. I will update digitalmotioncomics as it happens. My philosophy is 'bring the comics to life.'
